By now, you know that Thursdays are the big day around here. That’s when the Weekly Stumptown Savings Grocery Deals Roundup hits your inbox.

But here is a secret: What lands in your inbox is just the tip of the iceberg.

Because I track prices at over 20 different stores, putting everything into one email would likely crash your inbox (and make your thumb tired from scrolling).

So, I’ve designed the Thursday email to be a "Highlight Reel," while the website holds the "Master List."

I can only fit a few grocery deals in a 60-second video! If you want to see the best deals at 20+ #Portland area stores (including Costco,... See more

Here is your quick guide — a cheat sheet, if you will — on how to navigate the roundup so you never miss a deal at your favorite store.

📧 In Your Inbox (The Highlights)

I designed the email to be perfect for the busy shopper who just wants the headlines. When you open the email, you will always find:

  • The Top 5 Deals: If you only buy five things this week to save money, these are them.

  • The Staples Index: I check the prices on eggs, milk, apples, and other essentials so you know exactly which store has the lowest price on basics that week.

  • The "Big 4" Deals: Curated lists for Albertsons/Safeway, Fred Meyer, New Seasons, and WinCo.

  • What We’re Cooking: A quick tease of recipes you can make using this week’s on-sale ingredients.

🖥️ On the Web (The Treasure Trove)

If you shop at co-ops, specialty markets, or want to see the full breakdown, you need to click the "Read Online" or "Get All the Deals" buttons in the emails.

It takes you to the full article where you unlock:

  1. The Magic Table of Contents: At the top of the web post, there is a clickable list of stores. Shop at Costco? Click "Costco" and zoom right to that section. No scrolling required.

  2. The "Hidden" Stores: Due to space limits, these stores don’t make it into the email, but they are always on the site:

    1. Co-ops: Alberta and People’s

    2. Specialty: Natural Grocers, Whole Foods, Uwajimaya, BooHan Market

    3. Local Chains: Basics Market, Roth’s, Chuck’s, QFC, Zupan’s, Jim’s Market, Sheridan Fruit Co.

    4. Bulk & Discount: Costco, Bi-Mart, Grocery Outlet, US Foods Chef’store

    5. Plus: What’s new at Trader Joe’s, and quick links to the flyers that drop after the email publishes (like Market of Choice and H Mart).

  3. The Recipes: A curated selection of three-to-five seasonal recipes you can make using this week’s best deals. Take the hard part out of meal planning, or use the recipes as inspiration.

💡 Pro Tip

If you strictly shop at Safeway or Fred Meyer, the email is all you need! But if you love a Trader Joe’s run, hunt for treasures at Grocery Outlet, or buy in bulk at Costco, make sure you click through to the site.

Keep an eye out this Thursday for the next roundup!
