Happy New Year, Portland! As we step into 2026, it's time for a fresh start — and there's no better place to find it than at our local winter markets. While many believe the "market season" is a summer-only affair, our region's winter farmers markets are officially back in action, braving the cold to keep our pantries stocked with the best local meat and produce through the winter.

After a New Year's break, many year-round markets are returning to their regular winter rhythms.

Weekly Year-Round Mainstays

These are your reliable, every-week anchors for fresh local food, no matter how gray the January skies get.

  • PSU Farmers Market: The year-round market at Portland State University is back this Saturday (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.). Even in the cold, it’s packed with over 100 vendors offering everything from artisan cheeses to locally foraged mushrooms.

  • Vancouver Farmers Market: Across the river, the Vancouver Farmers Market’s massive downtown market is a fellow year-round mainstay. Taking place downtown every Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., it provides a vital link for Clark County residents to local produce, food, and artisan goods.

  • People’s Farmers’ Market: This SE 21st Avenue staple is open every Wednesday (2 p.m. – 6 p.m.) all year long. It’s the perfect spot for a midweek sourdough restock or fresh winter greens.

Bi-weekly Markets: The Rotating Gems

Mark your calendars carefully! These neighborhood favorites operate on an every-other-week (or twice-a-month) schedule during the winter months.

  • Hillsdale Farmers Market: This Sunday, Jan. 11, marks the 2026 debut for Hillsdale. It will be open from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. for its first bi-weekly session of the year.

  • Hollywood Farmers Market: Hollywood has shifted to its winter rhythm, operating on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The next market is Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026.

  • Montavilla Farmers Market: This "Winter Warrior" operates every other Sunday through April from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The next market is Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026.

  • Oregon City Farmers Market: Don't forget the south metro powerhouse! Oregon City returns this Saturday, Jan. 10 (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) at Clackamas Community College for its first bi-weekly winter date.

  • Troutdale Farm Market: Located at the Columbia Gorge Outlets, this newer market is indoors and year-round, operating every Friday (2 p.m. – 7 p.m.), Saturday (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.), and Sunday (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.).

January’s Secret: The Sweetest Time of Year
